Zoo Enrichment
When volunteering at the fair - in the small animal building - there is time between chores
to walk around and enjoy the other animals and the stands.
I have been a volunteer in the animal field most of my "productive life". In Denmark it was as a dog trainer. In
the US I have spent countless hours at the Idaho Humane Society, and Zoo Atlanta while I lived in Georgia. I
get most of my personal satisfaction from this work, probably because I have never gotten into a career that
worked for me. So I have focused on volunteering instead and enjoyed applying my abilities and my education and
training, and the flexibility of a "job" where you decide your own work schedule.

I volunteered for Zoo Boise for a little while after we came back from Georgia, but I felt I was stretching
myself too thin.

As an active member of a small cavy club (guinea pigs) I have gotten a bit involved in the local annual fair and
usually help out there for a few hours.

I am also a member of the Idaho Herpetological Society (technically another IHS, but I shorten it to IHerpS)
and assist the adoption coordinator. It is only a few hours now and then.
