I only started my caviary in the spring of 2005 and
still consider myself a novice.  There are so many
great breeds and colors but I want to keep it small
so it doesn't run my life. I do Americans and
American Satins. I did some Teddies but I am
fading them out again. The colors I mostly work
with are red, chocolate, agouti and roan. I also
have some black and beige animals. My animals
are bred with show and/or further breeding of
quality animals in mind.

I breed guinea pigs because I enjoy the company
of the little critters and watching their behavior and
social interaction. I also have a great time at shows
with our little group of friendly, open and animal
loving people. Besides sharing our interest in
cavies/guinea pigs with each other we also enjoy
talking to regular pet owners about the care and
behavior of guinea pigs.
I consider this little rodent specie one of the best
pets for children because piggies are simple to
care for, and they are easy to gentle and handle
when treated right.
Some of my pigs are also used for show and tell
and other educational events, and for therapy. My
friend Britt and I are starting an educational and
therapeutic non-profit "business" with various
animals, but we are not being aggressive about it
right now.
Fortunately, we live in an area that is not over
populated with guinea pigs, and it is my hope that it
will stay that way through the responsible pet
ownership of regular people and the further
education of proper guinea pig husbandry by
guinea pig clubs like ours, shelters and
conscientious pet stores.

I occasionally foster guinea pigs for the Idaho
Humane Society, for which I am a seasoned
volunteer and foster parent. Other members will
sometimes help place pigs in new homes on a
private basis. There is no specific guinea pig
rescue in this area and our club is not ready to start
one, but we try to help where we can.
